You have revived a memory from the jungles of SE Asia Jeffrey...Soldiers would encounter vast "walls" of dense bambo growth..so dense you could not see through it yet the mind would play tricks on "you" visually..it is called "bóng ma rừng "forest ghost" in English. FYI..

Trekking a 10 feet path could take an hour. Strong as steel bambo is.
Soldiers( posing as indeginious people Hmong or Montagnard) from the North, upon interrogation, could be "id'd" by how they "pronounced" the letter "r"...up "North" it sounds like a "z". Not so below the DMZ....."BUSTED Uncle Ho"!!
The "enemy" called us the "Bóng Ma Rừng... because of our camoflauged bodies."

Wonderful abstract!
DanThank you Dan. I don't know if those memories are good or bad, or what role you had in that useless conflict. Glad you made it back!.
I posted this as a "life experience" and won't say any more.
An image should provoke a response of some sorts. Yours instantly took me back to a time.."We Were Soldiers Once...and Young!"
