p.1 #1Some 'underside' shots of 'Charlotte' the Orb Weaver doing web repair
Several times in the last couple months I have seen 'Charlotte' (my wife's name for her) rebuilding a mostly destroyed web. I suspect the occasional sparrow crashes into it -- I'm not sure. Charlotte has already produced about three batches of eggs since she first showed up a couple months back.
If you look carefully, in several images you can see web coming from her 'spinneret' and the base of her abdomen.
Anyway, I thought these were fun shots as they the DOF makes her web almost invisible from the underside.

Nice work, it almost looks like it's doing a levitation act until you see the web, heh. Fun stuff.
We had a gigantic Pantropical Huntsman spider inside the house last week as big as my fist. The wife made me dispatch it... she is in John's camp when it comes to large hairy spiders. Oh well... heh.

Thanks, John. I am cautious around both, but when I can ID either as one of the 'good guys', I make sure I help them rather than do away with them. 'Charlotte' is a lot more afraid of me than I am of her.

Thanks for the comment, Eric.
I've not ever seen one in our home. If I did, I would have to do a 'catch and release'. But I understand the wife thing -- 'Happy wife - Happy life!'

Neat shots

Thank you, Birdie. I love it when we have these occasional home front critter experiences - be it spiders or owls. She's a pretty magnificent spider and we know this is a short lived time with her.
