British Columbia is being devastated by forest fires that are out of control and destroying many homes. Anyone who thinks all wildfires can be prevented or brought under control know nothing about wildfires.
The smoke here on Vancouver Island is from the wildfires on the mainland.

We just spent about 10 days on the Island, Nanaimo area. What a beautiful, serene place! Met a few people who came to get away from the fires on mainland.
Didn't get sunset pictures - spent most of the time on East side. Did you take it from a boat or one of the smaller islands between the Island and mainland?

Neither, it was taken from Pacific Shores Resort, near Parksville on the east coast of Vancouver Island.

Good to know that inlets allow for sunset viewing as well, if we ever make it back there.
