From a secret hillside accessible only by 4 wheel drive, no crowds, no people, no traffic just a small group of us. Our planning was to try to find an isolated fairly inaccessible spot and avoid the huge crowd that arrived in Spain for the eclipse. Due to the fires there is a lot of haze but it was just great, our small viewing party had an amazing sight to be behold. Aside from the haze things could not have been better. Nikon Z8 Nikon 20 mm, 600 mm, Leica M11 and 50 mm apo Summicron all operated at once.
Yes the haze added a lot of color and made it all the more otherworldly, but I also do astrophotography and the haze did degrade the 600 mm FL shots of the solar activity, it is there, but it it does decrease resolution. Overall I was very pleased, the weather Gods were kind to us, we had a great spot, the view was amazing, and no photo can capture what the great dynamic range of the eye the eclipse photos are always flat, even the best photographers compared to what the eye sees of the brilliant glow of the eclipse- it is so amazing. That is the burden of all of us photographers, the eye is so much more amazing and I for one am constantly trying to catch my eye view. Thanks to you both.
