I was pulling my hair out. no matter what I did, I could not get the camera to move out of date and time settings after a reset without the use of leica foto app which i refuse to install and manage a camera with. I figured it out and document a pretty straight forward process for this. But i would love to know if anyone ran into this issue as well. Time for leica to release an update and stop trying to force us to use an app we dont need!

No SL3 but use the app all the time and even requested additions like camera profile management. It's the best camera connection app I've used so curious what your issue is?

For me , a long time user of cameras, a camera depending on an app for use is just wrong.
Your on assignment on the field, something goes wrong, for some unknown reason you have to reset the camera, you don't have your phone. You are screwed. Its just a bad idea.
Market a professional camera to a real pro, not that i am. you have to make it useable under any circumstance. This dependency introduces a major weakness. In fact, I'm so upset about this that I just posted it for sale.

Okay. But you don't need the app to use the camera in any way shape or form.. I just use it to apply updates, download select photos for sharing, and occasionally using it as a remote. Thats all.

I have yet to connect my SL3 reporter to the app. It works just fine including resetting. You don't need Fotos to get past the date time screen. Maybe read the manual?

I guess I have tried just about every feature on my Sl3 during the years I have owned it. This includes a full reset including date and time. Specifically when I moved to Europe and wanted to change date time and format of them. The only time I have ever used the Fotos App is when I wanted to use a feature of the app like remote control, image sharing, or updating.
I find the App excellent for whatt it is intended to be. I am not sure why you are finding the App required or objectionable.
As far as I know only the M11-D requires the App for many functions. That, because it has no other interface.

The manual does not instruct you on how to deal with a bug. This was introduced in firmware 4.20 I reached out to Leica and they validated that in order to exit the setup menu when "stuck" you need to use the shutter release button.
