I discovered this "squatter" living in 1 of my hanging flower pots.
I had placed the actual flower, "Minature Yellow Diplandia(Mandevella)" in its pot inside another larger pot to save the water and keep the roots moist.
As I was watering this little fellow popped up.
I scared him and he/she jumped onto a shrub..I picked him up and in a flash it turned from a grey to a brilliant green for camouflage.
I replaced him inside the flower pot......he pops up to say "Heh" when I water that hanging plant..
Anybody know what type of frog it is?..I am guessing some kind of "tree fro" do to it's "suction cup" type feet.
Dan
OK I found it!
"The frog in Maryland that turns from grey to green is the Gray Treefrog (and its sibling species, Cope's Gray Treefrog). They change color based on temperature, mood, and surroundings to hide from danger."

It appears to be a Gray Tree Frog, Hyla versicolor
Thanks Alan..I did find what it was..."Maryland is home to the Gray Treefrog (Hyla versicolor and Hyla chrysoscelis), which can change its skin color from gray to bright emerald green depending on the temperature, environment, and mood."
"It" displayed its colors for me while I was moving it back to its "home".

Sometimes they're almost solid green. The Cope's Gray Treefrog (H. chrysoscelis) is much less common here, and it's difficult to tell between them. Their call is a little different, though.

It was when it sat in the palm of my hand Alan.
I was amazed how green it turned into.

One and two, for me Dan'l, wonder how much of a struggle it is for da Frog to climb to the rim?
Douglas
Thanks Douglas...
It is not hard at all. The feet have suction cups for toes. I believe you can just see them. They widen when the frog has all 4 legs planted.
When I transplanted the frog back to the pot, I held it in my palm and the feet were "sticky". I haven't see the little rascal since then.
Thanks Karl!
I was just out watering and looked for "le grenouille",(lah grawn-wee) like the French word better,..... wasn't he some "character" in some drama movie...? rhetorical...
I could not find "him"...Hopefully he/she is about in some other less travelled surroundings..

The "skin" on this frog is really giving me a fit in sharpness control. I was trying to achieve a sharp glossy "look"?

I looked at the metadata..it was VERY low ISO and high Av..I shake....But the lens has "IS"....or it is just a crappy shot eh? Photography is an "instantaneous" art..."Kodak moment"? only digital now.. at times?

Yes and no Roberta!!! I was out last evening watering my flora and I noticed something "reddish" moving about my birdbath....
Went over to see what it was and BOOM...a poisonious "copperhead" snake!
I said "pardon me" and gently stepped backward while Mr snake slithered away under my work shed.
I HATE snakes of all kinds though in my elder years I have grown to accept them as one of Mother Nature's "law enforcement officers".
