You've heard my complaints regarding Viltrox AF already I'm sure. If you're running the thing in low light trying to rely on eye AF, I'm not recommending the Viltrox for that.
Having just received the Viltrox... the IQ is incredible and the AF is good enough for my purposes but I am not sure I'd trust it for low-light/eye AF.
For those with the Viltrox 135 LAB, does it suffer from the EMF interference issues that cause banding like the 35 LAB exhibits on Z? That's a really unfortunate deal.
Good choice! You won’t be sorry. I find the Nikon lenses to be more reliable for AF compared to Viltrox, and the Plena has special rendering that takes it to another level.

Something in the 35 LAB causes banding in certain situations on Z cameras. I assume it has something to do with their linear motor tech, but have been curious if it's the little LCD screen somehow and if that's why they quietly removed it from the E version.

I really haven't seen banding on my 35 LAB but also haven't used it a crazy amount!
I am extremely pleased with my 35 LAB and 85 EVO so far ... for what I used them for!

I'll add to the chorus, get the Plena if you can afford the price difference. One never regrets buying the best if that is what they really want. When I sold my 800PF and 400 f4.5 to buy the 400TC, I thought I was crazy, as I had to spend more than 6K to make it happen. Three plus years later, I have absolutely no regrets about sucking it up. If you think that 135mm will be your go-to lens, then go big and buy the best that Nikon has to offer.
As someone who photographs running children with the Viltrox 135mm, I also suggest getting the Plena. My Viltrox drifts off focus in action sequences just enough that, if I had to do it over, I’d get the Plena.
