p.2 #1Sony 50-150, 70-200, or another body?
Interested to hear your thoughts on the 50-150. I recently switched to Sony from Canon as well. I love this lens but its also the only one I have right now on E mount. I am looking to pick up a prime, most likely the 50 1.2 and get the 20-70 for travel.

I have the 50-150 f2 and 28-70 f2, along with 24GM, 50 1.2GM, 16G, 85GM2 and 100GM Macro, and love these f2 zooms. That said, for an upcoming trip, I’m taking 16, 24, 50 and 85 as I really enjoy their rendering. I’m taking 2 bodies. I’d say get the 50-150 and use it for photographing kids. That was my use case for my daughter’s high school functions, parties etc (she’s going to college soon), I think these f2 zooms are valuable with kids.

Between 50-150 and 70-200, I sold my 70-200 GM2 to get the 50-150 and don’t regret it.

No one can tell you what to do here. You could look at this as a super expensive 150/2 prime (with a little duct tape).

I haven’t used my 70-200 GM II at all since I got the 50-150. Conventional wisdom from most people will say send it back. I suspect those that have shot the 50-150 will say keep it. It is special.

As others have said, it slots in super nice with the primes you have. (although the 135 being a bit redundant.)

I'm fairly new to Sony, less than 6 months. I love my A1ii and have accumulated quite a few primes. 24 1.4, 35 1.4, 50 1.2, 135 1.8, and 300 2.8 OSS. I love primes but do shoot my kids a lot and thought of the 50-150 f2 for flexibilty. I ordered it, sitting in the box, yet to open and I realized, do I really want this to replace my primes? I really enjoy shooting with primes. I always had a 70-200 2.8 with my canon gear and used it quite a bit but then started using a 200-400

As others have said, don't ditch your primes.

If you are going to shoot your kids a lot, it depends on what they are doing and how old they are.

Specifically, IMHO:

Tamron 35-150 (own and use primarily as a travel lens)
+ good focal length for indoor use, enough length to shoot from afar indoors
- only 15FPS, tracking (compared to Sony GMs for fast moving older kids for field sports), no TC capability

Sony 50-150 (have briefly tried it, but don't own)
+ amazing bokeh, great tracking at high FPS, enough length to shoot from afar indoors
- too short for field sports (unless your kids are little), no TC capability, too long for indoor use unless your house is huge , conspicuous appearance

Sony 70-200GMii (own and use primarily for shooting field sports)
+ very good bokeh, great tracking at high FPS, takes TCs for field sports reach, enough length to shoot from afar indoors
- way too long for indoor use, conspicuous appearance

Normal length zoom - I am probably in the minority of being down on both the native and and 3rd party f/2.8s as well as the Sony f/2 because of limited versatility for shooting sports or indoor sniper shots of people. The other three lenses above make a lot of sense **to me** on a second body in conjunction with the first body with the 35GM for the shorter focal length

**I personally** did not like shooting events with two bodies and my favorite lens purchase in the last 12 months is the Tamron 35-150 because it enables me to shoot events both indoors and out (when using the A9iii) with a single body. YMMV
