Listing this for sale though if it fails to sell I won’t be heartbroken, (just maybe broke in other ways). This camera is gorgeous and special.
Some cameras aren’t lookers but are a joy to use. Some look beautiful and are horrible to use, and others manage to pull both off at once. Opinions are divided on where the BF falls, though I think it’s a quirky, characterful mix of both. I find it easy to work with, and for some reason the BF’s implementation of picture controls/jpeg recipes is both lovely (offering some real options instead of ew, no way, ugh, yeah maybe, oh that’s nice, hell no). I found myself using that option on the BF more than I did on any of the recent Fujifilm cameras with the recipe dial.
Anyway, I found the BF fluid enough in use if you’re not an action photographer. The AF is quite good, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of its functionality. I’m a single-point kind of guy but the more control I gave the BF over selectio of point—it seemed pretty canny!
The included grip compliments the aluminum body beautifully. I added a cold shoe—with some newfangled 3M VHB sticky tape, which should remove with no problem but sure seems secure, to the top of the camera. The viewfinder slides in securely and is really nice. Has lines for 28, 35, and 50, and I use the 35 for the 40.
The kit also includes a little aluminum cover for the USB 3.0 port, which, since it’s the only real port on the camera, I figure is worth protecting.
The TTartisan 40mm f2 lens is really nice for a lens that cost under $200! AF performance of this lens isn’t reported to be as fast as some others, so it’s possible your Sigma, Panasonic or Leica L-mount lens will focus even faster. For me, the 40/2 is fine, and it’s a lovely lens that reminds me of my favorite and most-used 35mm camera, the Olympus 35LC, which had the same lens as the later 35SP, the 42mm f1.7.
Comes with original box (and boxes for lens, viewfinder, and grip), the battery, viewfinder, cold shoe, an extra 3M tape pad, some quick-release connectors, USB port cover.
I bought the camera about a month ago from Camerawest in NYC. Lovely condition. A few little marks here or there on the shell, but overall pretty awesome. The screen is in very good shape. I put a protector on it and there’s a few bubbles, but it’s done its job. There might be a few hairline marks on the LCD.
I’d prefer to sell this as a kit and think it represents a pretty good value!
