Good info! Annoying to have to buy into a proprietary format. If I buy this lens I might look into making a jetmag bayonet to M95 adapter. 95mm filters aren't cheap mind you.

So that's a new wrinkle. If I do buy a filter system, and it's not the JetMag Pro, I think I should test the magnetic adapter first to make sure it doesn't vignette. If I buy the JetMag Pro, I don't know if I can stack filters. I sent a message to NiSi, will report back when I get a response.

Just wanted to chip in here to thank you for sharing your initial thoughts. Would be great to hear more as you get a chance to test the lens out. I've thought for some time that an ultrawide was missing in the GF range, and I've got a trip to dark sky reserve coming up too so this lens is tempting.
For the 95mm filter - am I right in thinking that 95mm screw in filters aren't supported, only a NiSi proprietary magnetic mount? I was thinking of picking up a 95mm screw in CPL since I have a couple of other 95mm lenses anyway, but I'm less keen about being locked into NiSi and having to buy a NiSi adapter for my existing lenses.

I suspect you could use an 82mm to 95mm step up ring with at least one 95mm filter and be okay, but I don't know for sure. I don't have an 82/95 step up ring. I do have a 95mm filter though, so I guess if I picked up a step up ring I could try it. But most likely I'll stick with magnetic filters, but I probably won't go the NiSi route on that.

I don't know, if it vignettes with a Kase inlaid ring or a screw in filter, its seems that anything screwed in there would vignette. I compared the inlaid ring to a step up ring and its actually thinner. It makes me kind of wonder why they bothered with threads at all.

Sorry if I maybe misrepresented earlier, it doesn't vignette with the Kase magnetic adapter alone (which is useless). It does vignette if I put a filter on the Kase magnetic adapter or on the inlaid ring (at least with a Maven magnetic filer). So my belief is that if a magnetic adapter doesn't vignette, a step up ring won't either. Agree that's not a slam dunk, so I would want to test it with a step up ring to be sure.
It actually vignettes if I hold a Maven magnetic filter against the front, naked. I didn't test if the inlaid ring alone, but I suspect testing the Kase magnetic adapter is more akin to how a step up ring would perform.
A screw in filter usually has some metal surrounding the glass to hold it in place, none of that would be there on a step up ring. The step up ring wouldn't have the threads to mount a filter like a filter does (I had a slim filter that still had front threads, not one that has no threads).
But agreed, this is all theory until tried and proven. I'll order a cheap step up ring and report back. If I plan to use a different 95mm magnetic system, I need to know whether the magnetic step up ring is going to work or not. Not sure I can 100% prove that with any old step up ring, but at least if a regular one doesn't work...I'm most likely SOL unless I buy into the NiSi system.
Edit: Hmm...or is the test where I used the 82mm Kase magnetic adapter enough to prove that a step up ring will work? Seems like the only risk is if the step up has a thicker piece of metal that fans out, or it doesn't screw in far enough to fully seat.
So I got a cheap "Patikil" 82mm to 95mm step up ring from Amazon. I'm not doing super scientific tests here, but I didn't see any added vignetting using that step up ring while looking through the viewfinder. I then mounted a 95mm Nikon ARCREST II Protector (pretty much the same as the Kenko ZXII Protector) and again it seemed like it didn't add any vignetting. But I then took a relatively thick Hoya EVO Antistatic Protector, which did vignette. So the tolerances are probably quite tight in terms of what works and what doesn't.
So you could probably use a step up ring to 95mm and a relatively thin filter without vignetting. But I highly doubt you could stack 2 filters.
So again, if I want to use filters on this, and stick to Mavens, which I do today in 82mm......I'm still not 100% sure a 95mm setup will work. For the filters I use, Maven's gives me a single filter solution, as they have dark CPLs. If I went with NiSi, I'd need to stack filters to get a combined ND/CPL effect. Nisi says it won't vignette, but I'm not 100% I believe that.
