I discussed "new" camera, before trip, etc., in general terms with my "bookkeeper" but she asked what to expect with credit card bill. It was now or later. Surprises are, well, surprises. I softened it some by pointing out the new Amazon card "discount," the sign on bonus and an extra percent by delaying to an Amazon Delivery day, not next day. Doesn't seem to have helped much.

A7RV $2550 shipped with full USA warranty and receipt in your name from an authorized dealer, via a trusted FM seller on our B&S forum. Officially listed as open box, I bought one several months ago from him and it was brand new with no shutter count. He has the same going on A7R6 for $3875.

Sony has always been a brand that’s painful to own when you buy new and hope to move on when the next iteration comes along. Olympus/OM System is another. And I just withdrew a listing for my used Fuji because, like you, I’d rather keep the camera than sell it at the current used prices.

In Europe, you can buy the Sony A7RV as a brand new gray-market product from reputable retailers for as low as 2.180,-€ including customs duties and taxes.

I'll likely end up with an A7rV again at some point because I really like the sound of the shutter compared to the older models. About as silly a reason as I can think of, really.

I really didn’t expect this big a discount would be available barely one month after the release. I thought it be around holiday season. Crazy! It tells you how big the margin it is for Sony.

It is a good thing that such a capable body is getting into the hands of buyers with lower budgets. As a seller of an A7Rv for <$1900, I was excited to introduce someone to the Sony FF community at a good deal. I just didn't tell them that they would spend all the money they saved and then some on glass.

Every Hasselblad 500-series owner would slap you for suggesting that your reason is silly. Because everybody knows that the shutter sound is the most important quality in a camera. It trumps megapixels, dynamic range, and even precapture! This is why in Democratic People's Republic of Korea you'll find yourself in front of a firing squad if you dare to use an electronic shutter when photographing the Supreme Leader.
