I know it's because some are upgrading to the a7Rvi and need to fund the change; but it's still crazy. The a7Rv is an incredibly good camera and it is amazing to me that they are now selling (used) for -less- than the a7CR (also a great camera, but with more limits).
I was going to sell mine when I got the a7Rvi, but at these prices I decided to keep it as a second body.

The A7RV is by far the best deal going on the used market. I recently sold one of mine and was about to sell the other. By some stroke of what I now think is luck I can’t find the battery charger for it so haven’t listed it yet.
Maybe this is some higher power’s way of telling me not to sell it as it is truly a great camera and a ridiculous value for what they are currently selling for used!!

Although you may not like the amount that they're selling for, it's doubtful that you'd get more for it further down the road.
Don't fall into the trap like I did and have 4 second bodies because on the used market, they weren't worth what you thought they should be.

When you routinely see brand new ones with US warranty here on FM for $2750/$2800, what do you expect a used one, likely out of warranty will fetch? Especially when more A7RVs will be listed for sale with folks upgrading to the A7RVI. I just bought an A7RVI, will be looking for a used A7RV when it falls to $1800, as a second body for landscape/travel stuff.

I suppose this illustrates a few things:
1. The impressive rate at which new technology products lose resale value. (Worth thinking about if you are a person who buys camera gear as an “investment.”)
2. To the extent that this is influenced by the introduction of the A7r6, and the shocking willingness of at least some people to toss out the last great thing for the newest great thing that will probably get tossed out for another great thing in a year or two…
3. It is a great time to be buying a very good camera that is only a few years old and in many ways likely to produce the same results as the newer model.

I'm entirely happy with my a7Riva cameras and have no interest in upgrading. There just isn't enough for the sort of work I do in the new ones (v or vi) for me to make the change.

I’m tempted to get one. Will look into FB Marketplace or maybe a new one this holiday season. OTOH I might pass as I’m still loving my old 5Ds especially using modern editing software.

Actually A7r5 is just a fancied up camera with old sensor that's just good for one thing, while A7r6 is a very good all round camera with enough forward looking technologies that should last a long while.
Were there as many people tossing out A7r4 when A7r5 came out? I don't think so.

IIRC, the "used" A7Riv dropped fairly quickly with the A1 and then A7Rv. I was torn, budget wise, both the used A7Rv and A7CR were tempting. My main interest was more the evf although having grabbed an A6700 to examine the A7Rv "system" menu, subject identification, etc., upgrades, the A7Rv was a strong fiscal contender. OTOH, while some suggest either weren't much more than simple uninspiring advances, going A7Riv to A7Rvi pretty big, too. Even better finder, full rear panel movement, "body" upgrades. A fair number of things.
Is it worth $2500 more? It was for me, maybe in soft ways some, "last?" camera, 2 ff versus mixed aps-c/ff redundancy.
I'm keeping my A7Riv and A7Rvi (in transit). Used A7Rv buyers are happy, sellers, not so much.
