It's been brutally hot in New York City with the peak high of 108f (42c) and at times the leaves were not wiggling. It finally cooled off some Yesterday and I headed to Nickerson Beach in the morning. I was surprised to find hot fog and while I love to shoot in fog not being able to cool down by sweating wares on me. Tern chicks did something I've never seen before. They were lead across about 25 yards of sand from the nesting area to the water's edge by one of the older chicks. This was unusual and I watched and took photos and then the oldest went into the surf. Hear are photos of that chick, they are heavily cropped yet precious.

To produce the colors I use I always start with one of the Adobe Camera RAW profiles and in Fuji's case there the Film Sims. I usually choose a natural profile, in Fuji's case Provia Standard. When I shot Nikon I used the D1 profile. Then I adjust brightness, using levels and sometimes shadows. If I want the color a bit punchier for some pop, I add some Photoshop Vibrance tool to add some Valence and saturation, typically 24 and 3. It's all done by eye and to taste.
