Wonderful images! What focal length were you at for these shots? Did you find yourself struggling with heat haze over the talus at all?

Hi Brian, Thank You for taking the time to view the Pika images and comment. I truly appreciate it.

Gear that I used was a Canon R3 with a 100-300mm lens along with a 1.4x teleconverter. No problem with haze as they were all shot early in the morning. (approximaly at 12,500' in elevation) I would hike in around 6:30 - 6:45 am. Temp would be around 40-45 degrees at that time in the morning. It's probably about a mile and a half hike to get to them. These were shot over multiple days in June. Lot of standing very still to gain their trust. I would never stay past 9am, not for the haze issue but more for the flat light.

Way to go Greg -- these are superior!
Your compositions are well done, and I love the way you composed a number of these to include the full shadow of these little guys. No.3 is a perfect example -- the shadow really adds to the image.
You get my vote.

These are indeed breathtaking photos!
Last time I saw Pikas at Yosemite, they were at over 10K feet altitude, so the air is indeed quite thin
