Hugh says Holy #*!! as it beats SL3+Pana 100-500mm, Seiss lens is still good
G9 II+ Pana Leica 100-400mm challenges it...
Issue is RX10 V is missing the precapture for wildlife or multishot for landscapes/macros. Instead you can get a used OM-1 around $1K... It is similar to L10, eg per dpr, camera manufacturers are rushing back to update their P&S's without spending too much R&D after seeing the sold out Fuji x100V, R10 IV, etc. At new P&S prices, there are too many better alternatives...

RX10 IV still works for me
Northrup was comparing it with the iphone...
Camera manufacturers need to catchup with the computational photography esp with the fast reading sensors... Sony had multishot app with A7R II... Multishot gives a better dynamic range and less noise for hand held use, so it reduces the impacts of using smaller sensors... That is one reasons I don't use much RX10 IV with the lower dynamic range where Hugh shows the difference...
At least one review showed improved OSS with V in comparison to IV...

That's the million-dollar question. I actually disagree with the guy who reviewed the camera. I have the IV, and it's a fine camera even in 2026!

I’ve decided to revamp the kit. Mostly adding the RX10 V as a travel backup body and what seems to be the ultimate casual dog walking just in case something interesting comes up body.
It won’t replace the A1 II
but I can think of it as something that’ll be appropriate for a whole bunch of casual uses.
Small sensor low light disadvantages aside - the only thing I really wished it had was precapture but the new battery (I have oodles of the FZ100s) and compact reach are attractive.
We’ll see!
