I think it got more precious to the potential user-group after they discontinued it. The absence of a new model drove up the used prices on the old. It is unique in its class.
Were you around FM when the Canon 1DX was about to come out, and people were selling their 1DsIII cameras here for as much as $7k?
Sell it now because it won’t be worth that in a few days. Betacamman wrote:
My last used RX10 IV, I bought it for $750. MPB would give me just north of $1800 for it today.

I was here, but I apparently missed out. I'd switched over to Sony and, if I remember correctly, barely cleared $4k when I sold my last DsIII. They must've experienced a resurgence because of the DX's lower resolution.
I used to own the RX10IV a few years ago, I sold it because it was just too big in the hands, and the images lacked punch and pop overall (limited 1" sensor). I really wanted to love it, but just didn't gel with it.
I think the new model will do the same except with faster AF with better tracking, and better battery life.
Albeit with a much higher price tag. Not everyone can justify $3k+ on a bridge camera, unless it's significantly better than the camera gear they already have.
TBH, I would have been happier with a shorter faster focal length like the earlier RX10 models.
I'd prefer something like a 24-120mm f2.4-2.8 bridge camera if they're gonna stick with a 1" sensor.

It is interesting that Sony is updating the lens... I wasn't paying attention as expecting the same lens as RX1RIII/L10 updates and saw the update in SAR...
Sony teaser shows the upcoming new RX10V has a 9.1-210mm which is slightly different than the 8.8-220mm lens of the nine year old Sony RX10IV. Assuming both cameras use the same 1 inch sensor size this means:
- New RX1V has a 25-575mm Full Frame equivalent lens
- RX10IV had a 24-600mm Full Frame equivalent lens
This would mean Sony did some small changes and we loose a bit of reach and 1mm at the wide end.
It could also (simply) mean that Sony tweaked the lens correction and pinched the available FOV a touch and had to report the "new" FL's on the side of the lens.
20MP 1 inch sensor
24-600mm F2.8-4.0 Zeiss Lens
NEW double Bionz ZR processor (possible XR typo)
NEW AI chip
NEW AF features (eye tracking and subject detection)
4k120fps, HD 240fps, SLog3
LUT support
new grip similar to A9III and A1II
Nice surprise that this class of cameras is still being developed.
My "dream" secondary camera that I'd carry everyday and everywhere where I can't bring my main equipment would be something like this with a larger (p1000-like) lens that goes beyond 600mm. Don't know how far it can be pushed.
Hope there will still be some interest in this and we'll see further models.
