p.1 #1 · Recommendations for a replacement foot for the RF 100-300?
I just returned a rental RF 100-300 and 2X teleconverter that I was evaluating for a possible longer rental for a trip this fall or maybe a purchase. I expect a fair amount of my use would be with the 1.4X and X teleconverters. I recently purchased a PromediaGear gimbal, and it came with a 6-inch Arca Plate with a QR Port, so I mounted that on the lens foot so I could (1) mount the lens on the gimbal, and (2) carry it with my Magpul MS4 Gen2 Dual QD Rifle Sling strap. Unfortunately, this was the aspect of system that I was a bit unsatisfied with. The lens foot is already quite high-profile, and with the plate, it doesn't fit very well in the Canon case, or in my NYA-EVO FJORD 60-C pack. While padding on the inside of the foot makes it reasonably comfortable, I find it a little too short. On the other hand the 6-inch plate seems unnecessarily long for this use.
Historically I've purchased RRS plates and replacement feet for my gear, but RRS doesn't appear to have a replacement foot for the 100-300, so I'm looking for recommendations for one. My criteria are:
1 or more QD sockets to use a strap to carry the lens
rounded or padded and long enough to make it comfortable to use the foot to carry the lens with my hand
compatible with an Arca-swiss clamp
long enough to balance the lens with 2X teleconverter and R5II on a gimbal
