Recently returned from my first trip to Scotland. Not a photo tour, so no magic hours, but the landscape is stunning even in the middle of the day. Thanks for looking.
Fun to see these photos of places I also just visited! (In fact, I’m working on my Scotland photos this week. Just worked up some of Eilean Dohan Castle today, in fact.)
Looks like your weather may have been a little less gray than ours was. :-)
It is a really beautiful place, isn’t it? I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Dan: By Scottish standards, the weather was relatively bright. Only saw occasional patches of blue sky. Although it drizzled alot, things were always changing. It is a spectacular place, and the rhododendron were in bloom while we were there. I would love to go back and spend time in fewer places and have time to be deliberate. I look forward to seeing your images!

Yeah, there is always a "context" when mentioning Scottish weather! We were there ahead of you, during the first half of the month, doing a weeklong-plus driving loop. It was, or so the Scots told us, unusually cold and wet during our visit. We even saw fresh snow on some of the peaks along the NC500 route. We had very little sunshine at all, and when the clouds did part a bit the atmosphere was quite... atmospheric.
It is such an amazing landscape. This Sierra Nevada guy might scoff at calling 300' hills "mountains" — but they are, having the alpine appearance of terrain above timberline. And the juxtaposition of those mountains with the ocean/coast is really special. I'm glad you visited and hope you can go back.
