New member here, heads-up for anyone using the well-publicized Nikon lens trade-in program
I ordered a lens last night and noticed on my confirmation email that the payment method had been changed to a different credit card number last four digits. I’ve now been on the phone twice today with Nikon USA explaining this to them, and awaiting a call back from a “Supervisor”. As the program works by assessing your trade-in lens first, then refunding your trade-in value and any trade-in bonus to your “original method of payment”, it seems as though either Nikon’s system has been hacked, or someone in their own organization is doing some inappropriate things behind the scenes to direct the trade-in value/bonus elsewhere, while the buyer’s credit card has been charged full retail, as my own. I’d guess with fraud protection through the bank/credit card it could all be sorted eventually, but may be a time-consuming headache in the meantime.
If you’ve already participated in this program you may want to double check your order confirmation “payment method”.
Any chance you made the payment using Apple Pay? Apple Pay assigns a virtual card number that’s different from your physical credit card, so the last four digits won’t match. If that’s the case, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, tap the card you used, and check the Card Information section.
You’ll see the virtual card number’s last four digits along with this note:
“Use the last four digits to identify Apple Pay transactions made with this card.”
Nope, directly with Visa card. Got confirm on screen after purchase showing my CC number, and was charged as such. Got email confirmation after with new number substituted.
