I know we’re moving off topic, but I’ve also wondered why the Canon forum traffic here has died off. I believe Canon has the largest camera market share, yet it’s not reflected by the traffic here. I suspect the reasons are multi factorial. I think forum members skew older and the younger photographers are more likely to be on social media rather than a web forum.

Wing
I'm definitely older, but skewing more towards Sony lately. They have great sensors but I'm not impressed with the lens options.
Up until the MILS era I mostly used DPP for processing RAW files. DPP is relatively slow but you can batch process multiple instances or on multiple computers.
I'm not a photographer and mostly use computers for other purposes than image processing. The costs of storage are far more than what I spend on computers themselves.

I recently upgraded my computer an M1 MacBook Pro but went back to a windows desktop was going to wait for the new mac mini but wanted a large amount of storage built into the machine rather than external hard drives
One reason is that Dropbox which I use for cloud storage and sharing with family is easier with onboard storage and you can’t use external drives with Dropbox on Mac
I went to a specialist builder in the UK and prices were still not too bad
Was considering upgrading my MacBook Pro too as it’s perfect for travelling but with the big price increases will stick with what I have

The shortage won't last but a year or so, Nvidia has launched the new brick, and I expect it to be competitive with Apple. I am an Apple computer guy ,and will never go back (maybe).. With the new arm processors and all being built for AI. I may give the new arm laptops a try. But, will tranche in with caution. The horrors of working with 386 and windows still gives me nightmares.

@gkinard1952@ What are you using now? Apple Intel? Depending on your workflow needs, you may realize a significant speed gain.
Apple for years now after I retired. Android for phone. Not this year, buy after the new Nvidia laptops get reviews from trusted people. I may buy one.

Ordered my Mac Studio in March, just got it and set it up yesterday!! Hopefully no more spinning beach ball and faster Lightroom! Some of my plug ins are not working right, but will figure that out today. I checked current price and it went up $1,500! This Studio better last a while for the price.

Quick note for folks planning to buy a Mac for photography. Many think that you need the more expensive Studio models for this use. They are great machines, but almost anyone will find that the smaller and less expensive Mini models can work extremely well for this purpose in all but the most remained (e.g. high end video) cases.
I moved to a top-end Mini system with sufficient ram and a large enough SSD last year and i have no regrets at all.
