p.1 #1 · Green heron #1

This was the first of two Green herons I came across at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, NY. I had a lovely background yet wish I had time to remove my TC as this one is very shy and started to take off as soon as I composed. I was able to take one step back to capture some of the blastoff. It's one of those times when I zoom is better. I'm still happy to get these first decent Green heron images of the season.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

Excellent set. All are very nice. The wings being cut off in the last may feel like a flaw but to me it makes it more special than a perfectly posed and frozen shot. Sharp where it counts with the wing blur presenting the creature as a living, unpredictable being. Of the others, I like the vertical best. Great to get the straight on look with both eyes sharp and clear. The portrait mode reduces the size and impact of the rather vivid background.
