Love the dark tones in this black and white along with the great detail in those blacks. My suggestion would be to straighten out the camera to prevent any perspective distortion (straightening out the rear wall).
I prefer version 2. The background is not "split" between extreme light and dark. If fact the bright window behind is nicely controlled. You still have the many background objects for us to take in after seeing the main subject. Backgrounds can be distracting. Here, they are an added feature. The expression if #1 is slightly more pleasing, IMO.
