It was discussed in conversation by Leica Leadership at the London LSI event in London.
My opinion is should only be on the current generation film cameras or possibly the M11 -D type cameras which is for digital shooters who want to pretend that they are shooting film.

If we're basing it on forum reactions (perhaps a distinction without a difference?), then there was a lot of support for the retro style metering but much smaller support for the baseplate. The baseplate folks are very vocal, though, so it's easy to overestimate support for it if just reading the conversations. That said, I think there was a recent rumor of a new battery, so removing the baseplate might square with that. I doubt they would go back to the smaller capacity M10 battery since that would hurt an M11-R sales.

Just thinking out loud here – if the "new battery" isn't to accommodate a baseplate version of the M11, then maybe they're just increasing the capacity of the existing M11 battery. With the rumored larger screen and new sensor that might draw more power, that could make sense – like they did with the Q3/SL3 battery over the Q2/SL2 battery.

I came across this video on upcoming Leica cameras. I am not familiar with the creator on this, so don't know if it is legitimate or not. If the statements are true, there could be some very nice updates with the M12 and SL4.

This is one of a number of click bait views for money style channels. It is based on pure speculation and internet rumors. Often full of misinformation. I give it very low value.

I find it hard to believe that the market would give up the much better performance in metering and other things for a prefered shutter sound.
I would prefer no shutter sound and just a minute vibration that provides shutter feedback only for the photographer.
Doesn’t matter what the shutter sound is to me, as I yell out BANGER! every time I take a shot.

What would be cool is if they offered a digital M3 or M-A.
Monochrome, 60mp sensor, no screen, no light meter. Just an ISO dial, the shutter speed dial and aperture dial from whatever lens you are using.
Or, for those not brave enough to handle the truth - you can't handle the truth - a real digital MP or M6. So as above, but with a buiilt in light meter but only manual mode. No AE, not Auto ISO, no nuffink.
I would buy that if it was priced reasonably…Well it didn’t take more than a few words to delusion myself just there.
