A friend’s very photogenic Red Fox Lab named ‘Copper’ and an interest in challenging myself to try and capture both some ‘action shots’ as well as ‘regular’ shots of a dog , for the very first time ,
some YouTube searches etc helped with some tips [shutter speed, lens - 70-200 , my ‘humble’ Nikon G series 70-200 VRII with adapter on my Z series] . ‘Animal’ subject detection no doubt helped too.
After some rapid learning curve [and continuous debris accumulation on lens surface on a windy day ] I managed to settle on some ~ ‘optimal’ subject distances, focal length shutter/aperture/metering - mostly 1/800+, ~f 6.5 and Spot metering around 100-160mm FL to ensure Copper was correctly exposed against bright sun and background etc.
Am a bit rusty on syncing RGB’s etc throughout LR so yes, there’s some obvious inconsistencies in his coat colour between the shots.
Welcoming constructive feedback , tips, ideas etc.

Great shots there, @jbsf@ Kudos
thank you ! Looking forward to next time with the benefit of some rapid knowledge learned from the first attempt
I also really enjoyed your shots, especially since we have both a Red Fox lab and a yellow lab. Our dogs are quite senior so no longer moving as quickly as Copper.
My most favorite of all creatures, including humans, James!
He is having a great time and he shows it!
You commented on "color "of Copper's coat...the harsh sunlight at the beach will give you all sorts of color shades.
I don't see anything that needs addressing for these wonderful images except...Copper is not playing with me at Maryland's Ocean City.
