Would you consider the use of the tc2x for marginal emergency reach only, or this can be used more broadly ?
Maybe you can tell, if you know, how you would roughly compare the IQ with 100-400 tc2x with the 200-600+tc1.4 (better?) and/or the 400-800 (worse?)

Looking pretty darn good with that 2xTC after whatever PP you did.
I may not be getting one in initial batch as Sony shorted my dealer compared to what they had told him a week before. But I will get one eventually.
Keep sharing photos everyone. Push the limits with the TCs. We all know this lens will be amazing without a TC....we need to see what it can do with the TCs. At least for the bird photogs.

That is looking pretty encouraging. I’m interested in more info about the 2X shot, whether we are seeing uncropped images, and what post-processing you did.

Regards.
one thing for sure is the new four custom-optimized XD (extreme dynamic) linear autofocus motors help a lot in term of focusing, subject acquisition from Full/infinity to MFD compare to the ONE motor on 200-600.
2-6 is out of the question since it is very slow. I would use 400-800 over 100-400 with TC.

i shoot jpg only. Those local in Socal shoot at this location know the color/setting are the same for everyone, so there is no post process add on.
some of these are FF (the flying shot) and about 30% crop on stationary pose.

Thanks for posting these Alex
Not surprised by this "I would use 400-800 over 100-400 with TC". What about 1.4x vs 200-600? Sharpness and speed?

i don't dare to use TC with 200-600. lol is that answer your question? I know other folks will disagree with me but that just my preference after shooting with all of the zoom/prime lenses from Sony myself..

Sorry, I didn't make it clear. 200-600 bare lens vs 100-400 WITH 1.4X. So 200-600 vs 140-560 comparison
