These days with AI-assisted noise reduction tools such as the ones available in DxO Photolab or in Adobe Lightroom/ACR, you have almost a 2-stop advantage. You can expose for the moon without the highlights blowing while letting the foreground go a little dark. The sensors have also gotten better in their dynamic range so with a little practice you will know what is the sweet spot for your particular body.
