I really like these and that is a pretty area on the Grand River, but Cambridge has three downtowns as you no doubt know, so you might want to capture all three. I do think Galt is the prettiest of the three, but having lived in Hespeller, it has it own working class charm. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Steve. Small world that you have lived in Hespeler, the smallest of the three communities making up Cambridge, ON. I live in Preston since about 8 years, having moved away from Milton, ON (too busy). You know that all the photos I showed are from the Galt area. There is not much meaningful in Preston, other that the Riverside Park and the confluence of the Grand and Speed rivers. At least Hespeler has a nice micro brewery you may know as Four Fathers. It will be very animated during the upcoming Football World Cup. Geographically it is definitely a pretty area.

Looks like a nice area. I'm going to be in Kitchener for a week in September. Any suggestions for photography spots?

Yes, my favorite spot in the area, and I lived there for as well for a time, is Elora. Well worth the half hour trip and there is a lovely waterfall and gorge, and beautiful hiking in the woods along the river as well.

Steve,
I am not sure when you were the last time in Elora. Tourist outfits still list it as the most beautiful small town in Ontario (or Canada?) If you like "busy like Times Square" ? maybe.
They built a huge Condo Monster right across from the Elora Mill and added many parking spaces and a pedestrian bridge across the Grand river, right into the pretty little shopping area of Elora..

Like Steve mentioned, Elora although it's overcrowded now. Personally I would drive 15 minutes further and go to Fergus. Grand river (that flows through Elora also flows through Fergus. No crowds there.

If you want to catch some photos of Amish and Mennonite People in their horse drawn buggies stay north of Kitchener.

Riverside Park in Cambridge if you like urban wilderness and photograph a few birds. Or 45 minutes to Burlington and there is a great place (Grindstone Creek Wetland) just below the Royal Botanical Garden. That's where I do most of my birds photography.
