As an old rock climber I know well the danger of loose rock, so was very careful to find solid footing near the edge of the cliff at the Goosenecks in Capital Reef NP. I had to hold my Sony A7cr out at arms length and guess at the composition to get the bird's eye view. It still gives me vertigo looking at these!
Cool shots Jim! Well worth the calculated risk. That’s a very beautiful spot. I’ve always wanted to hike into the canyon along Sulphur Creek but never got around to it. It’s still on my list though. So much to see in that amazing national park!
Thanks for all the comments guys. Capital Reef is our favorite Utah park - no outstanding feature like the walls of Zion, or hoodoos of Bryce, but a great mix and not as crowded. Of course there is also the pie at the Gifford Homestead!
If anyone is headed that way and looking for a unique place to stay, try the Torrey Schoolhouse. It's been turned into a bed and breakfast and was very nice accommodations for the price.
