Nevada Falls (Yosemite) yesterday was the most beautiful I've seen it in person. The level of water flow was excellent, although likely not for long since there isn't much snow left in the high country.
This was taken with the Ricoh GRIIIx, which fits nicely into my backpack pocket for hikes. I wasn't in the mood to pack my heavy camera to the top, and this one did a very respectable job given the mid-afternoon light.
It's hard to put this in scale, so for those not familiar with Nevada Falls, it drops 594 feet and is upriver from the more popular Vernal Falls, which is only 314 feet tall.
Yes the snow cover this year is pathetic. Just came back today from an attempt at Granite Park (below Italy Pass). There was no snow till around 10,500 ft, then slight patches till 11,00 ft after which it was completely snowed in with a slushy mess than was unwalkable past noon. Unless your definition of "walkable" includes constant post-holing in hard-pack snow. Some of the crossings along Pine Creek had over a foot of rushing water above the crossing logs, which made some of the crossings "interesting" because there was probably 3 ft of water under the log. Fingers crossed that El Nino next winter brings a lot of snow.
