Leica just released FW 4.1 for the three Q3 models. They actually addressed my one biggest gripe which was the inability to turn off focus peaking while in AF mode. This is now done within the user profiles. Some other nits addressed as well. Glad to see Leica is on top of this, it’s been only 5-6 months since FW 4.0 was released.
Downloads are avaiable on the Leica site as usual.
So I'm new to the Leica ecosystem and just upgraded my new Q3 Monochrom to the 4.1.0
Is there no way when I am reviewing shots taken vertically (portrait) to rotate it if the camera is horizontal (landscape)? I've looked at every menu option and can't find a way to accomplish what in the Canon ecosystem is referred to as something like auto-rotating images upon review.
I believe there are only 2 options. One is to keep the image horizontal regardless of camera orientation and the other to rotate to match the orientation.

I don't think there's even an option to change how it displays, I've looked all over the menu options.
The 4.1.0 patch notes say "Pictures taken in portrait format will now be displayed in full screen view." Given the "will be displayed" it sounds like they decided to change the behavior of landscape shots to always display in full screen but didn't give us an option to toggle, or an auto-rotate function.
Maybe they'll include it in 4.2.0 (or ideally a 4.1.1 issued sooner) if enough of us write in. I'm drafting the email to [email protected] right now to request this feature in the next FW--that seems to be the only email in the Contact Us part of the Leica US website. I'll be asking for an auto rotate so that the picture always shows in the orientation you're holding the camera while reviewing photos (so if you're holding it normally while reviewing a portrait shot, it will have black bars on the sides, and if you turn your camera vertically it will rotate and fill the entire screen). If they can't do that, I'll ask for an option to toggle between behaviors.
