I generally recommend Mark Galer setup guides. They cover most stuff, are free on youtube and contain good recommendations for the very useful memory recall modes (his "PAL" settings). I'm mixing what he does with a more custom hold based workflow, but either way, what he does is helpful and it'll take some head-scratching to get beyond his level.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences with the A1II, I pushed the "Buy button" and it should be here Thursday/Friday of next week.

Any setup guides worth mentioning?

Hatch

The one from Steve Perry is excellent, but mostly covers the settings for wildlife still photography.

Thanks all, I appreciate the comments/suggestions.
I had forgotten about Steve's guide, I purchased the A1ii guide, I'll work through it.

Side note, I also uploaded Sony's manual for the camera to Claude and had it build out a settings "suggestion" html file for my type of photography, the results are useable as well. I think I'm set We shall see when the camera arrives.

Thanks again all.

A couple of things to add. First, I have nothing more to offer on the camera itself.
For setup, search for arbitrage's posts; I've mirror'd his setup most closely.
Finally, I don't think Sony will rush the A1iii. Canon has chosen not to go head to head with the high res sports cameras with the R1, and the a7v and a7rvi now compete better with the R5ii and Z8 (the og A1 does as well). The Z9ii could put some pressure on the A1iii, but it's sounding like that may not be until very late this year or early next, which gives Sony more space to be patient.

Will do. I think pre-capture is going to be the big one for me, I miss a lot of shots where birds are launching, I try to anticipate when they will but it doesn't always work out. Looking forward to shooting with it.

Thanks for the comments.

I will have a look for sure, thanks for mentioning the setup info. The A1 has been pretty amazing, I'm looking forward to the enhancements of the A1ii.

Thanks again for the info.
