I don't own an R. I love using my A7V and I shoot predominantly portraits and sometimes sports (outdoor tennis and indoor volleyball). However, I am tempted by the drop in prices for a new A7RIV(A). Right now it's CAD$ 3300. I might wait until the prices go down further during the holidays. Having said that it might be just a waste of money since I normally just post my images here and on Instagram/Threads. If I needed to crop the A7V is more than enough. Also, Adobe has excellent tools to upscale either by Super Resolution on ACR or via Firefly Upscaler on Photoshop (2x scale as 4x scale adds a lot of noise). Anyway, if the A7RIV(A) prices fall below CAD$ 3300 I might have a GAS for one.

I have been eyeing an A7CR, A7RIV and A7RV for months now. I currently have the Canon R5 which I like a lot, but don't like overpaying for 3rd party quality at an L series price. I will get bashed for that statement but with the amount of software correction it isn't the same quality as the EF L lenses. The A7RV is probably the equivalent to the Canon R5. The A7CR which would compliment the Canon nicely maybe with a price I am willing to pay in a couple of months.
Get a7RV if possible. You can't go back once you use the multi-angle LCD. V's auto focus (AI chip) is also better than IV.

The A7CR is a different set of thinking spots. It has some trades to be small (smaller) (off the top of my head, the things I look at and wonder are the evf - you have to try them and the lack of a full mechncical shutter. The A7Rvi does some to reduce that side of things, but for me, used to an A7Riv, as much as I might like the "smaller," I still think the evf sends me to the A7Rs instead. It's tough. The A7C series has many happy users.
100% agree with the others regarding giving the nod to the A7RV over the A7CR right now. Unless you absolutely need that smaller formfactor, I think the A7RV is the one to buy right now with the prices going down as much as they are. And that's coming from someone who essentially daily carries an A7CII because they are in love with the size
I also noticed this. is the 7R series more popular than the 7 series? I have an a7iii and always found it to be a great option since the files are smaller but still plenty big for my needs (4x6 prints, social media, laptop screen). And cheaper!
