I don't think there are any new storage devices. Maybe find an older Hyperdrive or Nexto unit. Usually you can use a microSD to SD adapter for the card. Another option is a phone and external drive.

Friend of mine had a NewQ Filehub where he did this together with an external hard drive and his phone as the main interface. It worked, but honestly, I was able to do something very similar with my phone, a USB-C hub, and an NVMe at roughly the same form factor.

FYI, I found out that I do not need an external power source, my phone seems to provide all the power that is needed.
