The little guys have been coming in for about two weeks now and this is the first pic I've been fairly happy with, albeit just a perched pose. I haven't yet gotten a good hovering shot but I'm going to keep working at it.
Thanks for looking.

Pretty shot Joe. Just a suggestion, something I often do around the feeder. Clip a decorative branch off a tree, something very skinny and light, and attach it to something very close to the feeder. I find that the birds like having a spot to rest in between feedings and it gives you an opportunity to capture them in a natural setting. Just a thought.

Thank you Gary. That's a great idea. I had thought of moving the feeder closer to the tree line but I like your idea better. I really appreciate it.

Sure thing. The fun part of that is you can pretty much switch the branches out once in a while for a different look. Good luck !
Wonderful shot and great exposure on him ! I just started seeing some here yesterday, so glad they showed up.
I also do what Gary suggested about the branch. It does work and helps getting some perched shots. No matter what side of the feeder I am on , they always seem to fly to the opposite side to drink. Years ago, I was advised to tape off some of the feeder holes, so you can know where they will be. I use gaffers tape .

Wishing lots of hummer visits and opportunities!

Thank you so much Birdie. I will definitely try and get some more natural shots. I'm getting a few visitors every day. Definitely challenging but fun.

Great shot Joe. Beautiful feeder, now try for some "as suggested " on perches nearby or hovering shots just off the feeder. Keep up the good work !!

Thanks John. I will definitely be trying that technique. I've gotten some hovering shots without the feeder but nothing good yet. I'm gonna keep working it.
