Thanks for looking,

<RANT>
FWIW I'm seriously exploring DXO PL 9, which I've had for some time. The mpost recent PS update could very well be the last straw.
</End Rant>

This, a Tri-X preset

Very nice, Bob. The triangles and other patterns formed by the shadows give the image a lot of impact. The FM shooter is positioned perfectly.

Is it the introduction of lots of AI that turn you off to Photoshop? I just sent a nasty email to Topaz about how far down the rabbit hole they're going with AI. It's changing photography rapidly and nobody seems to be looking very closely at it.

Thanks Brent,

Every several years or so @sbeme, a.k.a Scott, and I (spouses included) meet in Charleston or Savannah for dinner, talk, and a photo-walk; this our third. It's a fun time. It's nice to get to know him in the first person in addition to through FM posts.

Re PS - yes and yes. All these great (technically great, honestly, drawing from my experiences in a college CS professorial job) advances offering functionality I neither need nor want. Why? And to make matters more aggravating, existing tools/panels have changed (look & feel) prompting a search to discover how to use them. The Actions palette now cluttered with a (entire TAB) lengthy list of again, functionality I neither need nor want.

For me, the tipping point passed, I perceive PS shifting emphasis from photography to design, graphics, and (my guess) ultimately animation; not what I signed up for.

For closure, I rolled back the upgrade.

I've never been a big PhotoShop user, but my impression is that it never did emphasize photography. It was always a "do anything" pixel editor. I suspect, but have no concrete evidence, that more graphic designers/artists use it than photographers.
