p.1 #1The Purple Martins are back, and so is some colorful variety
Here's some variety from a local community garden. The recent rains have brought out a lot of flying insects and the Purple Martins are loving it!

This is a lovely set Greg. Flight images of the Purple Martins are hard so you did well with getting them. You just reminded me that I have some I took a couple of weeks ago that I should post. Lovely florals as well.

Thank you Morris. They are fast birds, and zip all over the place -- I took many shots, most were of some blurry background with no bird in the frame, or part of a bird in the frame.

OK, I think the bee photo bombed a great flora shot in #9
Poppy-rocks

I have never taken a Purple Martin image but you now have me motivated to do so! You have some intense flight shots Eric, wow #4 is menacing, looks like huge bird!!
Great work buddy

Thanks Karl!
The close ups of the female Purple Martin were obviously, well, close up. She was sitting on one of the nesting pods in the garden and I was able to get really close to her. She was very gracious to pose for me!

Thank you Birdie. They are really lovely and are voracious flying insect eaters -- which is why they are so popular with gardeners.
