I'm pretty sure: Oil splatter occurs upper left corner. (in the case of Canon 1D/ 1Dx)
So I don't think it is your problem.
(Even if my memory is failing band it's on another corner, it's not subtle. One corner get trashed and the rest of the sensor looks like any other sensor)
