I headed to Truckee to catch the Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boy going east from Sacramento/Roseville over Donner Pass. The conditions continued to worsen and the train was re-routed back via the more northerly and lower elevation Feather River Route. Being from L.A. and not knowing the roads, the ongoing heavy snow, road clearance and closure situations, etc., I decided to not try to chase the train.
Maybe it's me but this doesn't look like "Up to 3" of new snow accumulation."
