How do you modify the body of the Q3 43 to improve its handling and secure the camera? I am butter-fingered and a neck strap and/or wrist strap plus some kind of grip would be mandatory for me.
I find a leather half case like Oberwerth or Arte di Mano helps a lot. They have a small bump which I find is enough to improve the grip.

What about the Q 43 for landscape vs the Sony? How does it stand up?
It’s generally on par with a GM prime lens. I used it for a couple of landscape shots and they came out nicely due to color rendition but from a pure sharpness perspective, it’s probably a wash. Not an ideal focal length imo for landscapes.
Think of the Leica q3 43mm as if Sony decided to make a rx1r but with a gm class prime lens on it.

Leica will, at great expense sell you a wide assortment of cases, thumb rests and grips to make the camera into what ever you’d like. Or you can do the same at 1/4 of the price from several independents. For me a simple thumb grip was all that was needed but others prefer full grips etc.

Adding a LIMs half case with grip and my ubiquitous wrist strap transformed the camera.
With the case, if the information online is accurate, we're already at a weight of 1000g! For a camera with a permanently installed 2/43.
That shouldn't be forgotten.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Once again information online can be thoroughly misleading.
Just weighed my Q3 43 with LIMs case and it came in around 825g.
But really, who gives a damn, even with my parlous state of health I can carry it all day suspended from my wrist with one finger steadying on the built-in Q3 indent.

That's why I specifically wrote "if the specifications are accurate." Otherwise, for me personally, weight would be one of the most important factors when buying a compact and travel camera, which is how the Qs are marketed. And I don't think I'm the only one. It's just like everything else in this world: individual perceptions, perspectives, and feelings are exactly that: individual. And then there's also the issue of relativity, which is also viewed individually. If all else fails, you can always use the famous apple or bar of chocolate you can leave at home to compensate for the extra weight.😇

And that's why I judge image makers by what they do, not by what they write on gear fora.
;-)
Well, those are two different levels. Image threads are about images. Text posts are about writing. If someone takes (in my opinion) good pictures and writes (in my opinion) nonsense, they can appreciate the pictures and criticize the writing. Of course, it can also be the other way around, or sometimes one way and sometimes the other. And it all depends on personal assessment. Life is diverse and rarely black and white. That's why there won't be a camera that everyone considers good, not so good, or even bad. ;-)

Simply a joy to use.
I have Lim's half cases on two of my cameras worth every oz and every penny.

Has anyone tried using a hand strap--not a wrist strap--on a Q3 or Q3 43? I am talking about the kind that stays close to the right side of the camera body and that fits over the back of the hand while one's fingers hold the front right edge of the camera body. I find these very secure on my other cameras from Sony and Fuji.
Leica makes one, but it is designed for the SL3. Here is a link to an exmple of one from Amazon:

I am seriously considering getting a Leica Q3 43. I have always been interested in Leica but wanted autofocus, image stabilization, and a better viewfinder and more accurate focusing than a rangefinder and its linkage often provides. I like how the Q3 43 looks and what it offers. It is not something I need, but it might be fun and stimulating to have. 40-45mm is about my favorite and most often used focal length, so I am not worried about the fixed focal length. I mostly shoot travel, scenics, my grandchildren (ages 3-6), landscapes, street scenes, still lifes, etc. I am often trying to capture shades and tonalities of light.
I like to be able to shoot quickly something that suddenly presents itself, and I also like to work more slowly at getting an image, taking multiple shots over a period of thinking about what I am seeing.
My question is this: I am very used to a Sony A1 II and A7C R. For anyone who has used the Q3 and also some of Sony's cameras, what do you think I might like about the Q3 43 in comparison to the Sonys, and what might I miss or dislike on the Q3 43 that Sony's cameras offer?
FWIW. Adorama offers a free up to 60 day return period if you sign up for their VIP Pro subscription, $49 annually. Currently on limited time offer for $24.99. * I used their VIP program to try out my first Leica camera which I ended up keeping for some years. I paid full retail for the camera and ended up buying more Leica lenses with Adorama. But it did take me a few weeks to make sure a rangefinder was the right camera for me. So the VIP Pro subscription benefits was just what I needed.

I bought (splurged on) an Oberwerth Tag Case for my Q3 43. On the back, the edge of the case, which is aligned with the right side of the Q3's thumb notch, provides me with all the thumb grip I need. Together with in the bump on the front, I'm good to go.

One thing I mention in every “should I get a Q3/Q343” thread is Leica’s awesome wifi/smartphone/tablet integration. Every trip I take with M11 and Q3, I can sit down at a restaurant, pull out my Z Fold 7, transfer everything to the Leica app full DNG from the Q3 and edit with LR mobile and share with my family. It’s part of the quality of life benefits of the latest Leicas.

Advantage over what? The older Leicas? I thought that was possible with all cameras these days. I mean, with Sony I can transfer my RAW files to my Samsung anytime via sony app and Wi-Fi.
