The VG-C6 grip does add volume and weight, but I find that it makes the camera more pleasant to use. The major downside is the extra space taken in a backpack with limited space.
I put my silicone rubberish cover from my R4 on for now only cut a small piece off for the screen to work freely but that adds enough bulk and grip and I have large hands humble opinon.

I own an A1 and an A1 II and now traded some gear for the A7RVI so I am comparing the three. Sure the A1 is not a tricked out as the A1 II or A7RVI with things like pre-capture and the four way tilts screen and added AI processor but the A1 still a fast shooting camera. It can still shoot at the same shutter speed an AF focus rates as the A1 II. Its sensor combats rolling shutter in this same way as well.
Just picked up an a7R VI to test out alongside my Nikon Z8.
I have hauled DSLRs around my entire life, and the Z8 honestly still feels just like one in hand. I love the camera, but it ends up staying home more and more due to the bulk. I am not deep into Nikon glass yet (just the 24 120mm f4 and 50mm 1.8 S), and I really wanted a high megapixel stacked full frame sensor in a smaller package. On paper the size difference looks minimal, but in the hand the balance is night and day. The 35mm GM II is an absolute banger for work travel, night walkarounds, and family outings.
The new AF and menus take some learning, but that is half the fun and pian lol. Where I am truly on the struggle bus is editing in Lightroom Classic. Adobe will take forever to roll out proper color profiles for the a7R VI, and Adobe Color feels way off. Maybe my eyes are just too used to Nikon colors, but skintones and basic edits are taking way too much work.
Any tips, calibration tricks, or baseline LrC profiles to get natural colors out of this sensor?
Also, what would you pair with the 35mm GM as a second lens for a solid, compact two lens travel setup? Looking at an 85mm prime or a lightweight zoom.
I am basically blown away with the detail I am getting out of the A7R6 file in a typical "sweeping" landscape setting. This was hand held from the side of the highway. I was using a respected GM ii lens as well, but regardless it's basically equivalent to the best I used to get from 8x10 transparency film -- and exceeds the best I ever got from MF digital... It's darn impressive.
