I’m looking to pick up a M9M. I think the corrosion free new board should be 53 and old one is 52. I do have a local seller on FB Market Place saying his is replaced with official Leica email, but the board ID is still 52. Anyone knows if you can have an official Leica replaced board for M9M with ID still showing 52?
My recollection is that the M9M replacement sensor was a bit late in development. So some cameras that experienced corrosion early on received original sensors as replacements. I seem to recall waiting for the availability of the new sensor befor sending mine in. 53 is supposed to be the desired ID I believe.

I guess is it still possible to have the glass replaced and still have 52 ID? The seller can provide Leica replacement email.

My understanding is no. There are third parties that can change the cover glass but Leica does not. They replace the entire main board which contains the sensor assembly.

Did more research. It seems like you can have a 52 that's been replaced, but it's the same as the original glass. Only later on did Leica start using corrosion free 53 boards, so you want 53.
In my experience, with the newer sensor Leica also changed something about the color rendering. The charming original colors of the M9 more or less disappeared after that.
How is it with the Monochrom version? Did the output change there as well?
