p.1 #1 · Help setup R5 and RF 70-200 f2.8 for sports
Recently bought the RF70-200 f2.8 and want to set it up for shooting my grandson playing sports. He's 6 years old and plays lacrosse, soccer and baseball. The ball always seems to find him and he really gets into it so I don't think he will just be standing around like some kids do at that age. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

For an R5 I would set it in ES, 20fps, f/2.8 (occasional down to f/4 range if desire more DOF for groups), try to fill your frame as much as possible, and use the single with surrounding AF point (adjust with your thumb). I would not shoot with any AI tracking as you should be fine using the old fashioned method. In bright light with large apertures you can just shoot AV mode and play with your aperture, or if you are in low light or stopping down shoot in M mode with your desired SS and auto ISO.

Given the unpredictability at that age, I found instead of turning on single or eight surrounding AF points and tracking the subject, it was easier to use Zone AF and let the camera detect the larger moving objects in a given zone. This really worked when my son was in goal or racing towards at the front of a group (shooting opposite from the end line pointing out at the field). I'd also have the aperture a narrower given outdoor sunlight and giving more DOF those moving subjects. The field of view being narrow would give me more compression anyways.
Now this was with a 7D2/300mm f2.8L IS for soccer. With baseball at an older age, I use face detection on the R5 at batting from first base and zone for shots from third base coming into home.
