Bought this clean Rolleiflex A (early 1950s) with a prime Zeiss Jena Tessar 75/3.5 lens for $500 with aftermarket mirrored lens cap ($35) and plastic rectangular lenshade ($30). Also Peak Design adjustable and removable strap ($60) and (4) rolls of fresh Kodak Tri-X ($35) and (2) rolls of Ilford Delta 3200 120 film ($27) (recently purchased, expiration late 2027) ($192 in extras). Camera is overall very clean in excellent used condition and I have shot several rolls with even frame spacing and sharp focus wide open. Mirror and screen are clean with some micro dust but far less than normal. Standard Rollei screen is not as bright as aftermarket screens but easier to focus (not an issue). "Pop-up" focus magnifier is tricky to deploy and needs adjustment but works with a few seconds of fiddling (you have to press down on the clip). This is the only significant issue with the camera and it is easily surmounted once you learn how to open it. Automatic film leader sensing works, winding is smooth, focusing is parallel and smooth. Leather camera covering is in great condition with a little shrinkage on front plate.
I've decided to concentrate on my other cameras and would like to get close to what I have into it. It is a great user and far nicer to operate than a Rolleicord or Japanese TLR with the film leader sensing and overall build quality. The Jens Tessar is highly regarded as being "nearly" as good as later Planar and Xenotar lenses. In practical use it is impossible to tell any difference. Also mechanically the early A body is sound, I've owned 2.8 and 3.5 D, E, and F Rolleiflexes and this will hold its own against the much more expensive later cameras.
If you are looking for a great medium format camera to actually use this is a great choice, one of the few offered by a knowledgable seller who has actually shot and inspected film from the camera. The pop-up magnifier sticking is a minor PITA but not worth fixing IMHO. The camera feels really good in the hand and is lighter than a later Rollei while being heavier duty than a Cord.
