p.1 #1 · "The Feed, Grain and Mill Store"

This relic has survived decades of emptiness, yet still stands. It has an olde fashioned sistern, hand laid brick above ground in the rear and the "hay store" in the back. The drag strip was just down the road as I grew up and saw this as "part of the community" while driving under the above B&O/CSX railroad tracks directly behind the rear doors. Many a tractor trailer had it's roof sheared off or got stuck trying to go under a "Restricted Height" underpass.
Dan

the old cistern is at the top right almost in the dark...conical in shape

I dig these photos and the treatment with color and b/w. I think it matches the mood and timeframe of the subjects. #2 is my favorite as the depth lends to the really nice composition.

Thanks for the history of this area!

Great find, but then from the back-story you are well familiar with the structure. Appears mother nature and gravity will have their way at some not too distant point in the future.

Deep pockets could restore into a BNB? Around here they'd opt for a tire store and Dollar General.

Nicely seen and captured Dan, these photos really tell a story! I always try and imagine what places like this looked like in their heyday. I like the gritty texture and interesting back story in these too.

Thanks Dan!
There is the "mill/feed" portion that is another building behind these images.

The property owner clearded much debris. old dead trees and such from the front of the main bldg.
The early morning filtered light was great.
Thanks again!

Thanks Bob!
The RR tracks run right through the back of the main building. Not sure "guests" would enjoy the trains blowing their whistles/horns to warn traffic below and alongside that they be comin'.

Thank you Scott!
Gritty YES!!!!!

I need to get better images of the feed and farm supplies bldg and the cistern also.

It was a very busy place when I was growing up. The area was ALL farming, agriculture and drag racing for 40 years plus. Then "progress" entered the picture and destroyed the rural atmosphere of this land.
Thanks!
Dan

Well presented, Dan and I like the treatment of the rust colour in particular.

Some old buildings ! True relics indeed. I like the color one a lot , you really captured the feel of the old structure.

Means much coming from you lazlo! My b&w creativity is always a "work in progress". Can't seem to get a consistant workflow going.
Thanks!
