p.1 #1 · Leica Q3 43 current owner... previously Sony RX1R m.2 - few questions.
Hello everyone,
I’ve been on this website since 2014, but I haven’t really posted much. My old cameras were Sony RX1R I and RX1R II.
In January 2025, I bought a brand-new Leica Q3 43 at a camera shop in New Hampshire. At the time, there was no sign of a new Sony RX1R III coming out. Fast forward a few months, and Sony did release it! I really loved my RX1R II—I took some amazing photos with it. But over time, I got tired of the batteries running out too quickly and the autofocus being slow.
When I got the Leica Q3 43, I thought I’d love it as much as the RX1R II, but the size was just too much—it was too big, and I ended up leaving it at home, choosing to use my phone instead.
Now that Sony is out, I’d love to buy a Sony, but before that, I need to figure out the best way to make money from the Leica. I’m posting here to see what the best way to do this is.
- I previously sold my RX1R II on Facebook Marketplace.
- I know Fred and Miranda need a certain number of posts, etc.
- I’d love to hear any suggestions you have on how to proceed.
Lastly, I reached out to the local shop, and they have trade-in offers, but their number is really hard to see.
Thank you for any suggestions in advance, everyone.

I personally love the Q cameras and have had all of them including the 43. I just sold mine to get another SL2 and a 24-90 lens, but I if I could have afforded to keep it, I would have. I've shot a sony kit in the past, but none of the RX line. It really comes down to what works for you. I just put the Q on a strap or in a smallish sling and went about my day.
That said, I would list it here vs trading it in. You can probably expect to get around $5500 minus shipping, insurance and fees, so compare that to what is being offered in trade, especially when you know they are going to profit from the trade.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
I’m going to post it on FB marketplace as well. I do see couple of them listed in the Boston area for several weeks now. Looks like the sellers are asking higher price than what’s showing up on here. I guess more choices on here so price is also lower. But easier to sell on here.
My only concern that I have is … I applied a protective skin to the camera on day one. It’s rather neutral skin in black color with some texture, that actually allows for better grip. You know, when you get your brand new phone and put it right away in case and add screen protector, thing.
I would hate to remove it prior to sale, but I also understand that it can deter some people since it may not be in their taste or desire to have it.
Not sure how to go about that part and what’s best course of action.

I've noticed that, too, in the Boston area FB market place. Private sellers seem to expect near used retail seller prices.
Regarding FB market place, there is a current thread here on FM documenting a sellers terrible experience in Wayland. Might be worth taking a look if your are unsure of your selling strategy,
