I have the 18/2.8 Skopar and the 35/2 Macro APO Ultron which make for a nice kit, but I am thinking that the 27/2 Ultron might be an even easier walk about kit as the pancakes can easily just fit in my pocket. 28/40 equivalent would be a great walk about a town all day with an extremely light kit with good IQ.
Curious for those with these lenses, how has this worked for you?

Been using the Fuji 27 for a whole vacation and liked it a lot. It is still my most favorite lens for the X-Pro3. Perfect match for the OVF. At the same time, I have been trying the Voigtländer 18mm as well, but never really warmed up to its rendering. So I sold it. Wish Fuji would revisit their 18mm pancake.

I’m with you. Aside from possibly lower prices on some third-party lenses for cash-constrained buyers, Fujifilm’s lenses are excellent on their bodies.

They are.... I have the 18/1.4 and the 33/1.4 and love them - just a bit large for casual walking about - definitely not pocketable. I also much prefer the manual focus experience with the Voigts.

MF by wire as a suggestion in a thread about Voigtlander, a product you have no firsthand experience with yet constantly advocate against, is so incredibly out of touch that it's a marvel.
Your existential need to be heard, even when your words are pointlessly shouted into the oncoming wind, should be examined by science.
Consider ruining fewer threads.

27mm f/2.8 or 23mm f/2.8 from Fujifilm will AF and MF and they are very small.
Yes, they are but the Voigt 27 f/2 is basically the same size (it has a slightly smaller diameter and is half a mm longer) as the Fuji 27 f/2.8 and is a stop faster, something that some people apprreciate. Some people find the MF experience a lot better on the Voigtlander as well. I am not one of them. I find both lenses too small to operate easily with my big hands, but there are reasons that people like the Voigtlanders.
And to answer the OP inquiriy, I have used the Voigt 27 f/2 as a walk around lens on my X-T5. The focal length is something I really liked, but as I suggested above I find the lens too small to focus easily, so I have now sold it. I think that is just a personal preference thing, however, as I liked the image quality of the lens a lot too.

Thanks
Been using my 1st Fuji body, the X-T5, with the 4 Fujicrons (16, 23, 35, 50mm) since July of last year and could not be happier! But I got the 27mm f2 Voigt a few months ago and just love it, the 27mm FL really works for me. Now that I have added a 2nd Fuji body, the X-E5, I plan on getting the Voigt 18mm f2.8 as the 2nd lens to the 27mm for a really small 2 lens kit just for the reasons you mention.

Still very much enamoured with my 27/2 Ultron. (I've opted out of the 18/2.8 in favor of the ol' reliable xf18/2). It lives on my X-E5 and I think it makes the most sense on the flat body style cameras in the mount.
Really like the rendering, a more subtle flavour of classic/character than my 23 & 35 Noktons. The one and only gripe I have with my 27 is that it makes it hard to choose what to bring, with the Noktons already being small and wonderful. Just very close in FOV.

I have both the 18 and 27. I prefer the 18 for the focal length but the 27 is great when I want a bit more compression or bokeh. I never switch between the two in the field, but I'm the kind of person who usually picks one focal length for an outing and sticks with it. If you like the 18 and you like the 40mm equivalent FOV then I'm sure you'll be happy with the 27.

I use both of them a lot. They are great to zone focus with. Another benefit is they both have hard stop infinity focusing. The 18 is much easier to focus with, since it's wide. I always shoot raw but use a mono simulation in camera so I can get that in the viewfinder. Makes it much easier to use focus peaking. Both of them render better than the Fuji 18/2 and 27/2.8 in my opinion. They both have the same filter size, so a light mist filter on them when stopped down keeps some character while they can get pretty sharp.
Use them on the X-E5. Gives me the X100VI with true manual focus, which I enjoy.

I've got the 18/2.8 Skopar and the 27/2 Ultron and I like them a lot. The Fuji equivalents are nice as well. If you've got an X system you have to have a few pancakes to get the full experience imo.

I have the VL 18mm f2.8 on an X-T50 which is good for street. At f/8 zone focus is 2m to infinity, but the focus mag and yellow focus assists can be helpful. I didn’t like the Fuji 18mm f2 offering, hence the Voigtlander, but the Fuji 27 f2.8 is treating me well enough I don’t feel the need to go the VL manual focus route.

I own all CV X mount lenses.
The pancakes are both wonderful. I can throw both of them and a body into my Peak Designs 3L sling with heaps of room to spare. The ultimate setup might be a pair of X-T50s with either mounted to save you from having to swap lenses.
A Pelican 1060 case would fit both - you can easily throw these into any bag you’d want.

Followup to using the Voigt pancakes on my X-E5 and how it is to use.
After using my Voigtlander 18mm f2.8 Color Skopar and 27mm f2 Ultron on the new X-E5, I have decided not to use them on this body any longer. They just are not as easy to MF compared to using them on my X-T5.
~ The LCD and EVF on the X-E5 are smaller and not of the same quality as on my X-T5. Hasn’t been a problem for AF lenses, but trying to manual focus is much harder to do. Yes I kicked up the brightness in both but still, especially with the EVF, is not fun…. At all.
For this reason I have decided to use my 4 Fujicrons (16-23-35-50) as the X-E5 main kit. They are the perfect size for this smaller body. The Voigts are wonderful and will be used on the X-T5 where the MF is not an issue at all.
Other X-E5 comments:
~ The Exposure Compensation dial on the X-T5 is just slightly recessed from the edge of the camera. It never seems to be changed by putting or pulling from the camera bag slot, so I rarely use it and a dial lock is not needed. The same dial on the X-E5 hangs over the vertical top plate but is still flush with the camera vertical back side as it is in a recessed slot. It seems to change alot when I put/pull from its slot, (the same bag/slot the X-T5 is in). It definitely need a dial lock, as its resistance to movement is less.
~ Lack of ISO Dial. Solved this by using the front command dial for ISO. But I would prefer to have a ISO top control, like on the X-T5, in the space the where the film recipes view window is.
~ Battery life….ugh. After the 1st week of use, had to buy a 3rd battery, as it seems to just eat them up. Have a 2nd battery for my X-T5, but in 9 months of shooting with it never had to change it during a days shoot. Really wish the X-E5 had the larger battery.
~ Front Control Lever w/FN button. Brilliant design, use this for face detect On/Off and tele crop with my primes.
Despite these differences between the 2 camera bodies I am glad I got the X-E5. It’s more compact size is welcome and with the 4 Fujicrons it is a great little kit.

I really want some sort of a pancake for my X-T5 but don't know what direction I want to go; Autofocus 27 or 18, or get the Voigt 18; I love what I've seen from that lens. Just not sure if I want a manual lens as a compact carry lens or not for my use case.

The Voigt 18mm is easier to deal with from a MF standpoint, as being a wider F/L it has more DOF. You can set it at f8 and everything from 2m to Infinity is in focus. Just got the 18mm a week ago but have had the 27mm for 3 months and shot with it a lot more, it's a very nice lens! They are identical in size and design, the focus tab works really well.

That's quality feedback! I figured a wider lens would be much easier to nail focus quickly. I have the Thypoch 28 and chasing my 4 year old with it at wider apertures isn't the easiest at times. ~42mm isn't TOO tight, but I'm sure 28 equiv would be much much easier. I also got the Thypoch specifically for it's wide open characteristics, so I don't like shooting it stopped down haha. Something like the Voigt, I think I'd be much more apt to do so. Insanely fun lens and has made me want to shoot manual lenses day to day.
