Dan- thanks for taking the time to put together such a detailed response! I'm a OK photographer and would be unlikely to be considered for a juried selection. But I do find these types of processes incredibly interesting!

Thanks and congratulations again.

Bob.

Thanks! I like #1, too, but I have been a little surprised by how much others like it. I think that’s a good thing!

This is going to be a bit long, so anyone uninterested in how selection may work can stop here. :-)

The main reason I shared this set of images in this context was because I thought that there might be an interest in exploring some of the mystery surrounding submission to and judging for exhibits like this. Thanks, Bob. I hope it gives some perspective to a few folks who wonder how these things work.

Since the organization has now begun doing their publicity of the exhibit, I can identify it now. It is the 41st Yosemite Renaissance exhibit, a show that has featured a wide range of artists and work focusing on Yosemite and the Greater Sierra Nevada. It soft opened last weekend, and there’s a reception this Saturday in Oakhurst. (I’ll be there briefly.) Anyone passing that way this spring can see the work there, and afterwards it moves to several other galleries over the course of the year.

Here’s a video they posted on YouTube, and if you look at it at the right moment you’ll see my photo briefly:
