Did you change the security settings (Hold down power button until the Options Panel) ?
When the .dmg is run it may show the Extensions warning, set that to Allow and then Restart the Mac and then run the .dmg again.
Mine did not pull the Installer to the front window, it was hiding behind the Finder window for some reason.

I was surprised to learn that you can update the camera firmware via sd-card, but not lenses. The "Creator's App" appears to be the same, cameras but not lenses. So you'd still need the horrible mac updater that breaks on every major update of the mac. How does that make sense to anyone? Bah. Looks like I'll pass on lens updates. Maybe they aren't strictly necessary. Maybe in some distant future they'll teach their cameras to update lenses in a sensible way. Given their track record that may happen right after I have replaced those that would need it...

Can be done, go through changing the procedure to change the security policy and once restarted change the Privacy and Security setting in settings to accept sony now listed under Security.
Updated my 200-600mm with no issue. I use a Silicon Mac, and didn't want to change security settings just for firmware updates. I have a Windows 11 ARM64 VM installed via UTM for this purpose. Much easier than reboot and adjust settings in my opinion. And it's free.
OSS Mode 3 seems more stable when framing, although it's still not as good as Mode 1 when the shutter botton was half depressed.

Worked fine for me - just make sure you authorise the extension - there are some confusing popup windows that appear so it would be easy to miss one of them.
Upgraded all 3 lenses using the a7rv.
On a win11 pc.
All in all took less than 20min for all 3. Easy peasy.
It is less cumbersome upgrading from the card, but at least on a pc system it was simple and straightforward.
Will be a couple days before I am able to go out shooting/testing.
gary
Damn, I read it that new lens models were on the way.
I'm not understanding how or why a client computer is involved. I've always used the camera body to upgrade its FW.
Well I got it done. After being able to easily update my A1 and AII with the creators app, this was not fun. Oh well done now we'll see what kind of improvement we get. Thanks for all the input. Mike

AFAIK OSS Mode 3 is not stabilizing the view while framing at all. I assume this to be intentional. Hence I would not expect any difference between firmware versions (unless this changed).

Below is an excerpt from Sony product page. I haven’t done scientific test, just my impression as I was not happy with the shakiness of mode 3 before the update.
3-mode Optical SteadyShot
Optical image Stabilization makes it easier to shoot sharp images handheld at super-telephoto focal lengths. MODE 2 offers ideal Stabilization for panned shots, while MODE 31 provides enhanced viewfinder Stabilization that allows easier framing of erratic sports or wildlife movement. 5-axis Stabilization is available with compatible α bodies.
