After thinking some I could never get rid of my 35 Lux FLE v1.
I was surprised you didn't pick that lens initially. I very much enjoy how you talk about your process as you use it and you have so many wonderful shots with it.
Yeah Steve thanks and yes I had a momnentary lapse of reason and maybe a bit of gas. The 35 Lux is one lens I will never get rid of. It's what I shoot about 70 % of my personal work with. The other 30% is almost all with the 24 Elmarit. And about 60% of my pro work with the 35 Lux. .

11688!
If something were to happen to my original Summilux-M 50 ASPH, 11891, and also to my "spare," an 11892, I would start the replacement effort by searching for a well-preserved Black Chrome 11688.
Yes, I liked my 11891 so much that I eventually decided to add a second, with the version being less important than getting a good one, for a good price. When the asking prices were depressed, by the advent of the Close Focus Version II, I supported my local Leica enabler, Houston Camera Exchange, a.k.a. HCE, by buying a pre-owned 11892 from them. (HCE is an official Leica dealer, but, being located in far-south fly-over country, and a full-line pro-oriented store, cannot realistically stock many new Leica items, but the pre-owned selection can occasionally amaze.)
The Lux for me gives me the look I desire from my images and the way if functions fits the way I work. For me it's a no brainer. It is my favotire 35mm lens I have used and over the decades I have shot with a lot of 35s.

Likely because Nokton doesn't create the same hype as Summilux does. The Nokton is more affordable which puts it for some into a different league.
I think people say this often to try and make it true- If you look at the Leica owners on this board- Its clear thats not the case-
Also if you want to chat through the Noktons, create a thread about it!
Preference is and can be highly subjective. To me finding equipment that fits with the way I see and work is the key. The equipment I have now for the most part does that. That could be and probably is totallt different for someone else. And theres nothing wrong with that. Nice to have choices I say.
Optically, it's still the Summilux-M 35 vII. I grew to hate everything else about the lens (chonky focus tab, wings at the front to control the aperture that are hard to reach with the hood attached, which you need if you need to use one series VII filter) but I still love the optics.
That said, the samples I've seen from the new Noctilux 35/1.2 are very attractive. Maybe not $10k attractive, but it turned my head. I'm glad Zeiss released the Otus 35. It stopped me from doing something stupid like putting my name and credit card number in on the Noctilux wait list.
