p.1 #1 · The trouble is .......

....... that when I process flowers with all this damned white stuff all around me on the ground they seem to always come out just monochrome.

#1&2 sortta get lost in the white John. Not that that is bad... #3 is great!
Most of our "white stuff" has melted and we have gone from 20's, freezing rain, snow, fog to 75F on Friday-Sunday.
Geese have been flying North so won't be long now for Spring!

Greetings krug,

Without saying something useless like, "close, but not quite there" my feeling is that your approach to processing probably wants to be more aggressive in eliminating mid-tones. If I were working these with curves, I would push for an extended toe for the darks and extended shoulder for the highlights and the center be fairly steep. I like the possibilities of the first image and the white background with white flower. That's where I would start. It might be completely wrong, but without working on these myself that's my best guess.

I don like the overall compositions. - Kk

It is rather a good thing that with anything 'artistic' we all can have different views and approaches - which is what makes 'artistic analysis and critique' interesting. With these. I was thinking about how little contrast could work within the flower and between it and the 'background' so for me the first was more interesting than the third - the opposite for my eyes than for yours.
Neither is better nor either worse imho.

John

and keep those wretched geese coming !

I believe it would be VERY boring if we all thought the same artistic view(s) John!
Again well done and yes more geese headed up your way John!
